The stones should feel intensely hot when you bring your hand near them (without touching!). Many sauna heaters also feature a temperature gauge to help you monitor the heat levels. Wait until the gauge reads at least 300°F before adding water.

What type of water should I use?
Use clean, distilled water when possible. Tap water with high mineral content may cause buildup on the stones and heater over time, affecting performance.

Would an RCD be needed for the steam sauna?
